FeministFuturist is a collective of eight New England artists who exhibit individually and collectively. An intergenerational, multi-racial, and gender-inclusive collective, FeministFuturists engage with one of the most fundamental human questions and roles: reproduction, birth, and M/Othering. The collective addresses these topics through a diverse set of projects and media including painting, sculpture, film and performance.
M/Otherhood
is a multifaceted experiment engaging with one of the most crucial human
functions practically, biologically, and conceptually. Motherhood is
radical...and now more than ever perhaps. To have a child or not in a melting
world, a planet on fire, with growing wars... the fight between hope and
repair, reality and possibility. Yet, what is more human? Motherhood itself is
not a binary, it is a literal embodiment of all the nuances of the female body
and cycles of the earth. We ask: Is M/otherhood the most radical human act in
the face of a failing world?
