Annual letter and membership drive

Dear PCA members, volunteers, and friends,

The PCA kicked off our 2022-2023 season in spectacular fashion in September with the annual Westford Regional Art Event (WRAE). Despite the unusual timing, 100+ artists contributed to this annual celebration of creativity. Attendees of the art receptions will attest to the high quality of this year’s submissions.

The WRAE, postponed twice since Spring of 2022, demonstrated how the PCA navigated the pandemic with agility. Not only did we manage to remain fiscally sound, we continued to modernize our infrastructure and technology, while expanding our programming. Observant visitors will notice several changes at the PCA over the past year:

  • election of four new members to the board, including Tom Briere and Treasurer Sara Widman
  • new modern website and domain, found at https://pcawestford.org
  • integrated online and door ticketing system through Square
  • integration of the Hearing Room programming into the PCA (see below)
  • re-start of the Westford Teen Arts Council (WTAC) student committee and teen open mic series
  • completion of structural repairs on the bell tower
  • addition of high-speed Wifi and internet connections to facilitate live streaming of events

The PCA is thrilled to welcome members of the Hearing Room to our community, including new board members Mark Abare and Nick Pangaro. The Hearing Room opened its doors in Lowell in June 2016 with the aim of forming a creative cooperative. During the pandemic, the organization moved its programming online, and eventually settled on the PCA as their permanent home. The complementary nature of the two organizations has resulted in the successful integration of Hearing Room programming into the PCA schedule, including a new weekly Thursday Sing and Jam series, a monthly Bluegrass Jam, and a monthly Friday night PCA Coffeehouse concert series.

We also welcomed several other volunteers, filling critical positions including audio system manager, building manager, WTAC advisor, sound tech, WTAC student member, and series producer for the Barn Dance and Jazz Jam series. Others helped with logistics at the WRAE and concert events. These volunteers are a testament to the community spirit alive in Westford and the surrounding area. If you would like to consider joining our community, please refer to our website https://pcawestford.org and let us know of your interest.

We also ask for your support during our fall membership drive. The PCA gets no public funding for our operations, depending solely on memberships, donations, and rental income to cover our expenses. Become a member, purchase a PCA gift card during the holiday season, or sponsor a concert for a special occasion. There are many ways to support the PCA and keep the arts alive in the Westford area.

Sincerely,

Raj Puranik

President, PCA Board of Directors
